Tiger golf sweeps WC

Tiger golf sweeps WC

By Jerry Wadian

The Valley boys’ and girls’ golf teams combined for a sweep of West Central in the first meet of the season for both teams.

On Monday, April 8, at Big Rock Country Club in Fayette, the girls’ won, 186-276 and the boys’ triumphed, 177-191.

With rain and cold weather cancelling early meets and almost all outdoor practice sessions, golfers from both teams were glad just to be on a course again.

The Tiger girls, the sixth-place school in the Class 1A State Meet last year, began 2013 where it left off last season. Jodi Schott earned medalist honors by firing a 43, including two holes at par.

Lexi Moser beat teammate Chandler Luzum for medalist runner-up honors on a cardback after each came in at 46. Bailey Moser completed the varsity scoring by shooting a 51.
