The City of West Union on Monday continued to discuss a 28E agreement, including cost-sharing percentages with the trustees of Auburn, Dover, Union, and Windsor Township.

Currently, West Union fully covers expenses related to the fire station and its maintenance, workman’s compensation, liability, and other required insurance to the fire department and its members.

Under the proposed cost-sharing agreement, Union Township would contribute 21.8 percent to assist with expenses (including fire station, maintenance, and insurance), Dover Township, 11.9 percent; Windsor Township, 7.3 percent; and Auburn Township, 3.7 percent.

City Administrator Teresa Ruroden noted that the current agreement has not been updated since it was developed in 1987.

A Mobile Vets Center (MVC) made its first stop in West Union last Thursday, providing readjustment counseling and information resources for all area veterans.

The MVC, which will make biweekly stops until March, provides counseling for depression, stress and anger, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other services that help military veterans transition back into the civilian community.

The MVC, which will next be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, behind the Veterans Memorial near the Highway 150 and Highway 18 intersection in West Union, is available to assist any United States military veteran.
