The North Fayette Valley boys’ golf team wracked up a pair of big wins in the UIC last week, beating Ed-Co and Turkey Valley. Saturday, the TigerHawks finished third at an 18-hole tourney in New Hampton.

Monday, April 20, the boys beat Ed-Co at Pleasant Valley Sports Club, 180-193.

All head coach Derek Heins could say afterwards was, Brrrr! After his team had to deal with high winds, cold temperatures and water on the course.

Monday’s meet was played in what one of the Ed-Co coaches said was “one of the worst golf meet days in the past 10 years.”

North Fayette Valley had its win streak in boys’ track snapped at the TigerHawk Invitational, Thursday in West Union.

Monday’s meet in Charles City was cancelled due to the very high winds and cold temperatures.

The TigerHawks were second at their own meet, but with illnesses and the Drake Relays, not all of the varsity ran. In fact, two runners did not run at all, Derrick Kuehner was withheld from both the 100- and 200- dashes, and Dave Jellings only ran in the shuttle.

Despite that, the TigerHawks only lost by seven points to Class 3A Decorah.
