Ossian Bee - 2015: The year in review

Ossian Bee - 2015: The year in review

As 2015 comes to an end and we look forward to ringing in another year, it is time to look back at some of this year's most newsworthy stories. Many stories are welcoming, while some say goodbye, but each story will be remembered for helping shape the year.

1. New Principals

For the first time in over a quarter of a century, DeSales School began the school year with a new principal as Therese (Molumby) Suzuki took over the administrative duties. Prior to the beginning of the school year, Suzuki, a native of northeast Iowa stated, “I am grateful to have the opportunity to come back to the area and work in such a great faith-based school.”

Schneiders go 'bowling' with the Hawkeyes

Lisa and Gary Schneider of Elgin are among some of the area’s most dedicated Iowa Hawkeye fans; it says so next to their Christmas tree. Come New Year’s Day, the two Iowa fans will be cheering on the Hawkeyes from their seats at the 102nd Rose Bowl.

It wouldn’t be the holiday season if Gary and Lisa Schneider weren’t going bowling. No, not the kind where you throw a big round ball at pins, but rather following the Iowa Hawkeyes wherever they are headed across the country.

This year is a little extra-special. Not only will it be the first time the Schneiders get the chance to visit California, but they get to attend the “Granddaddy of them all,” the Rose Bowl, as the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Stanford Cardinals on New Year’s Day.
