The North Fayette Valley boys’ track team opened the outdoor season by finishing second at the Frostbite Relays Tuesday, March 29, in Sumner.

Head coach Mark Nuss stated, “Despite the high winds and chilly temperatures, it was a good first outing. Our times and distances are improving, and our younger athletes are posting some good results.”

The TigerHawks brought back 16 medals, including five gold.

The family of Rosemary Lehmann of Elgin invites relatives and friends to join in a card shower in honor of Rosemary’s 80th birthday on Wednesday, April 20.

Her family includes her husband, Earl Lehmann; children Ardith and Jim Phillips of Cedar Falls, Gary and Melissa Lehmann of Elgin, Glenda Olsmstead of Lake Havasu, Darcie and Dave Notton of Davenport, Jeff and Lori Lehmann of Wadena, and Bruce and Sarah Lehmann of Clermont; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

It all started less than two years ago for Pulpit Rock Brewing Company in Decorah. The local microbrewery has seen a great deal of success in its inaugural year of being open for business, something that can be greatly attributed to co-brewers Bob Slack and Justin Teff.

Rowland was first elected to the Supervisors in fall 2004 and has since won her last two re-election bids.

West Union’s new police chief, Dylan Schauer, was sworn into office at the West Union City Council meeting on Monday, April 4, at the West Union Community Library. A public meet-and-greet with the new chief followed the meeting.  

Schauer comes to West Union from the U.S. Marshal’s Service, where he was stationed in Wyoming. He originally grew up in North Dakota and had his first police assignment as a patrol officer with the Grand Forks Police Department (GFPD) in North Dakota.
