Jordan Baumler (220) and Ethan Lape (Hwt.) made it through the District Wrestling Tournament in Decorah Saturday and will represent NFV at the State Tournament this Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines.

It's Comedy Night in West Union Feb. 25

A special Comedy Night, sponsored by the West Union Chamber - A Main Street Community, will feature standup comedian Josh Novey on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tickets are available for $20/person or $140/table for eight.

 

 

 

 

“Josh Novey, a stand-up comedian based out out of Des Moines” is coming to West  Union’s Events Center on Hwy. 18 East on Saturday, Feb. 25.

 

Doors for the event, sponsored by the West Union Chamber a Main Street Community, open at 6 p.m., with a social hour running until 7 p.m. Novey will then take the stage, and his show is scheduled to run through 8:30 p.m.

Arch Allies will headline the 2017 Fayette County Fair on Saturday, July 29, in the Grandstand on the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Arch Allies to headline 2017 Fayette County Fair

The 2017 Fayette County Fair will be taking its audience back to the ‘70s and ‘80s when Arch Allies headlines the affair on Saturday, July 29.

The band that pays tribute to superbands such as Boston, Bon Jovi, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, and more will play two 90-minute sets in the Grandstand that evening. A time will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the event will go on sale in the next 30 days.

It’s official!

As of July 1, 2018, North Fayette and Valley school districts will cease to be separate and will consolidate into North Fayette Valley Community School District (NFVCSD).

“It was a big hurdle to get everyone on board, and it feels good to have that certainty now,” said Duane Willhite, North Fayette and Valley shared superintendent and new NFVCSD superintendent. “We are going to enjoy this situation for a long time, and [it will] make us much more efficient administratively.”

South Winneshiek junior and member of the Decorah Vikings boys’ swim team Noah Faldet will be competing at the 2017 State Swim Meet in Marshalltown.

Faldet finished second in the 100 M breaststroke at the district meet Saturday at Linn-Mar.

The State Swim Meet will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Marshalltown YMCA.

For the second time in the past three years, the South Winneshiek wrestling team will send an impressive 10 individuals to the District Wrestling Tournament Saturday at Starmont.

“Taking 10 wrestlers is pretty special,” said coach Jake Elsbernd after the tournament. “It feels pretty good!”
