Help build the Freeport trail

Clear your home or business of redeemable cans and plastic bottles and support the “Trails from Freeport” (TFF) project.

As of Wednesday, May 1, area residents can deposit recyclable cans and plastic bottles in a large receptacle located at Freeport Park, 1745 252nd Street in Decorah.

Proceeds from the redeemed cans and bottles will benefit “Trails from Freeport.”

The goal of the “Trails from Freeport” project is to build a 1.5-mile paved path to eliminate pedestrian and cyclist traffic on County Highway A6W/Old Stage Road and connect Freeport safely to the Trout Run Trail. TFF has raised more than $118,000 toward the trail extension to date.

The receptacle will remain at Freeport Park through TFF’s “Discover Freeport Park Day,” scheduled for Sunday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come enjoy a light lunch provided by Lynch BBQ and discover the Freeport Park.
