AgVantage FS acquires Garvin LP

AgVantage FS of Waverly announced Tuesday, June 11, the acquisition of Garvin LP Gas, Inc. in West Union. This acquisition will include all propane business assets, which includes rolling stock and storage facilities.

Garvin LP Gas is a propane sales and service operation serving customers primarily in Fayette, Buchanan and surrounding counties. The storage facilities are located in West Union and Masonville.

“We are extremely excited about this acquisition.  Garvin LP Gas, Inc. is a long-standing, well-respected company within our trade area and has good market presence,” said Wade Mittelstadt, division manager of AgVantage FS. “This opportunity will allow us to continue to build efficiencies into our existing propane delivery routes through volume and critical mass of customers.

“The customer base and facilities are strategic for us, as they are positioned where we are lacking storage, which should allow us to realize continued growth and cost savings,” he continued.  “This acquisition provides many opportunities for us to become more responsive and efficient in meeting the needs of our customers in the changing rural and agricultural marketplace.”

When contacted Tuesday, Scott Garvin of Garvin LP Gas did not wish to comment.

AgVantage FS is an operating division of GROWMARK, Inc. and a full-service cooperative serving northern and eastern Iowa and southern Minnesota. They provide crop inputs such as seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, precision farming and custom application services.
