New ideas for Pavo Blue

Shelley O’Brien of West Union has been a hairdresser for more than 30 years and runs a salon out of her home, but now she is trying something new.

O’Brien is training to be the new manager for Pavo Blue, coffee and gift shop in Fayette, which she will take over on July 1.

“Something about it appealed to me,” explained O’Brien. “I have always been in customer service, and I truly love working with people and getting to know them.”

O’Brien, one of six children, grew up on a farm in Greene.

She met her husband, Wayne, there, and the couple moved to West Union approximately 19 years ago.

The couple has two grown sons and one daughter.

When O’Brien heard about the opening for the manager’s position at Pavo Blue, she applied, was interviewed, and was offered the job.

“I hope to fulfill and continue what she has done,” said O’Brien, referring to previous manager Sharon Duffy.

The new manager hopes to make the coffee and gift shop a destination spot for everyone.

O’Brien hopes to bring new ideas to Pavo Blue as well as the building of positive relationships with the downtown Fayette businesses.

“I am so happy to be part of Pavo Blue,” said O’Brien. “I have a vision for it.
