Pat Jacobson services today at Zion Lutheran

Patricia A. “Pat” Jacobson, 69, died peacefully at her home in Hawkeye, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, June 29, 2013, after a struggle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union.  

Interment will follow at West Union Cemetery. 

Visitation was set from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the church today. 

Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Ann (Schulte) Jacobson, daughter of Clarence and Lovina (Beltz) Schulte, was born Aug. 26, 1943, in Des Moines.

She attended Catholic School in Carroll before attending high school in Arlington. 

On Nov. 6, 1960, Pat was wed to Carl Loomis at the Catholic church in Volga. They were the parents of six children. 

On June 17, 1989, she was united in marriage with Eugene A. “John” Jacobson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. 

In addition to being a homemaker, Pat was employed as a telephone switchboard operator, a bartender and cook. On May 2, 1992, she and her husband, John, purchased PJ’s in Hawkeye, which they operated for over 10 years. Pat finally retired in 2005.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. 

Pat thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing, dancing, and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Jacobson, on Aug. 13, 2001; her son, Rodger Loomis, in June 2000; a grandson in June 2012; and special friend Kenna Helgerson McFarlane.

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Marlene “Marty”) Loomis of Postville, William “Bill” (Jackie) Loomis of Hawkeye, Keith Loomis of Fredericksburg, Eddie Loomis of Hawkeye, Carla Engelhardt (Keith Kleve) of Waucoma; three stepchildren, Nancy Jacobson, Lori Johansen, and Bart Jacobson; 19 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. 

Also surviving are a sister, Katherine “Kathy” (Frank) Watterson of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, William “Bill” (Margaret) Duffy of Houston, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
