Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Baker

…newlyweds…

Gayle Bishop and Jacob Baker of Towanda, Ill., exchanged wedding vows in a 4 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, July 6. The Rev. Lee Boleyn officiated at the wedding, which was held at the Ramada Hotel in Galena, Ill.

Parents of the couple are Gary and Sandy Bishop of West Union and Ed and Marie Baker of Kirkwood, Ill.

Given in marriage by her father, Gayle wore a vintage-inspired ivory sleeveless, A-line gown with a netting overlay adorned with Venice lace appliqués. The gown featured wide Venetian lace straps leading into a V-neckline, sparkling beaded embroidery detail at the empire waist, and a keyhole back. Her bouquet, trimmed with gray ribbon, was comprised of yellow daisies and lilies with assorted pink and orange flowers.

Gayle chose her sister Renae Main of Dubuque as her matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Jessica Deets of Fort Worth, Texas, Mandy Koester of Oelwein, Sam Ehrhardt of Nashua, Steph Koester of Ames, and Katie Schmitz of College Station, Pa., all friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Payton Baker, niece of the groom, of Schaumburg, Ill.

Each of the bridesmaids wore a strapless, knee-length gown of gray luxe taffeta with a sweetheart neckline, lace overlay, and a sash that tied in the front.

The bride’s personal attendant was her cousin Caryn Huisinga of Aplington.

The groom’s best men were his brothers Alex Baker of Kirkwood, Ill., and Luke Baker of Schaumburg, Ill. The groomsmen were Evan Sanford of Davenport, Ben Sanberg of Kirkwood, Ill., Travis Ohms of Davenport, and Jeremy Oxley of St. Joseph, Mo., all friends of the groom. The junior groomsman was Jack Baker, nephew of the groom, of Alden.

Kyle Bishop, Troy Bishop, and Matt Main were the ushers.

Presiding at the guest book were Kayla Stammeyer and Kerrigan Upton.

The couple were later honored at a reception and dance at the Ramada Hotel Ballroom.

A North Fayette High School graduate, Gayle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural engineering from Iowa State University in May 2010. She is currently employed by the United States Dept. of Agriculture – Natural Resource Conservation Service (USDA – NRCS) in Henry, Ill.

Jacob also graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural engineering from Iowa State University in May 2010. He, too, is employed by the USDA-NRCS at the office in Decatur, Ill.
