The South Winn volleyball team entered Thursday’s game versus Starmont knowing it would be a tough battle, but no one could have anticipated that the game would come down to miscues and missed serves from a team that usually never misses.

The Lady Warriors ended the night with their first UIC loss to the Stars, 3-1, with game scores of 19-25, 21-25, 25-21, and 22-25.

Neither the Warriors or Stars could gather a run of serves to take a significant lead in any of the four-game, which allowed both teams to stay in the match until the end.

Brittany Shindelar and Megan Elsbernd topped the Lady Warrior kill chart with 13 and 12, respectively.

Junior Becca Franzen dished out 35 kills in the match to lead South Winn with Micole Lansing grabbing 17 digs.

This week the Lady Warriors have another slow one as host of Thursday’s matchup versus Turkey Valley and a tournament at Springville on Saturday.
