North Fayette Valley wrestlers finished second at the Lynx Invitational Saturday, Dec. 21, at North Linn. Wilton, ranked third in Class 1A, won the tourney with 214.5 points. The TigerHawks were 22 points behind the winners but 14½ points ahead of third-place Williamsburg.

NFV won championships at three weights when Zach Bruns (138), Nick Baumler (160), and Tyler Johansen all won their respective weight classes.

In addition, Jared Kerr (132) and Austin DeMuth (145) earned second-place finishes.

Kelvin Guyer had the fastest pin for the TigerHawks, winning the first round at 170 in .08 second.

NFV is off for the holiday break; the TigerHawks enter the break with a perfect record (6-0) in duals. The team has four ranked wrestlers. Bruns and Baumler are currently ninth in Class 2A, while Johansen is fourth. Dalton Lape is ranked third at heavyweight.

TigerHawk wrestlers resume action Thursday, Jan. 9, in a triangular with MFL/MM at Postville. They will wrestle at the Panther Invitational Saturday, Jan. 11, in Tripoli.
