NFV swimmers help Decorah win  a pair of duals

Four members of the West Union Swim Team   were instrumental in helping Decorah High School win a double dual last week.

The Vikings beat Waterloo East, 116-52, and Vinton-Shellsburg, 144-21, Thursday, Jan. 23, in Waterloo.

Matt Appler, Trevor Massman, Sam Poppen and J.D. Prentice each finished in the top three in at least two races.

Individual Results

200 Relay,- 2. Massman, Poppen, Heying, Heffern; 2:07.26; 3. Appler, McMillan, Schissel, Leschensky; 2:15.03.

200 Freestyle, 2nd- Poppen, 2:17.22.

50 Freestyle, 3rd- Prentice, 26:30.

100- Freestyle- 4. Prentice, 58:31; 8. Massman, 1:03.13.

500 Freestyle- 3. Appler, 6:12.74.

200 Freestyle Relay- 3. Massman, Poppen, Svestka, Rowley; 4. Prentice, Schissel, Krieger, McMillan.

100 Backstroke- 3. Appler, 1:11.17.

400 Freestyle Relay- 2. Poppen, Prentice, Rowley, Svestka; 3. Appler, Krieger, Malven, Nesset.
