The West Central boys’ basketball team will face Don Bosco Thursday, Feb. 20, in Dunkerton.

The 6:30 p.m. contest is the first round for both teams in the Class 1A District 5 playoffs.

The winner will square off against the winner of the Turkey Valley, Valley Lutheran and Janesville side of the bracket. That semifinal game will be held at 6:30 pm. on Thursday, Feb. 20, in Dunkerton.

The District title will be decided in Cedar Falls at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27. The other teams in the bracket include Waterloo Christian, Riceville, Dunkerton, Tripoli, and Nashua-Plainfield.

The Substate game to determine which team will go to the State Basketball Tournament will take place in Waverly at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1.

The winner of District 5 will meet the winner from District 6, which includes North Linn, East Buchannan, Jesup, Wapsie Valley, Starmont, Central/Elkader, Ed-Co, Postville, Maq. Valley, and Kee High.

The only ranked team in either district is Dunkerton (19-1), which held the number-seven spot in this week’s poll.
