Rugby tourney at Pleasant Valley

The Northeast Iowa Rugby Club will host the First Annual Northeast Iowa Rugby Invitational Saturday, May 10, at Pleasant Valley Sports Club in Clermont.

Rugby is similar to football but played without pads and interruptions. The game is usually played with 15 players per team, but the tournament on May 10 will have 10 players per team.

With fewer players there is more space to run, making the pace of the game even quicker.

There will be four teams in the tourney, including River City Rugby, Rochester Minnesota Rugby, Grinnell Griffins Rugby, and the host Northeast Iowa Barbarians.

Competition begins at 10 a.m. and will continue for much of the day. There is no admission fee for the tournament.
