NFV track getting ready for spring

The North Fayette Valley girls’ track team has a lot of youth, but fortunately, the team has 10 seniors for the younger girls to look up to. Providing a solid base of leadership are (front, l-r) Alannah Guenther, Shelby Lehmann, Morgan Huinker, Josie Mackey, and Karissa Meitner; (middle) Leah Reierson, Madison Creery, Julie Breuer, and Regan Wolverton; (back) Jessica Koch. The North Fayette Valley girls’ and boys’ track teams are getting ready for their inaugural season.

The whole-grade sharing has worked well this year, and most of the athletes are pretty familiar with each other.

The coaches however, have it a little harder. Head coach Mark Nuss admitted two weeks ago, “We’re still trying to learn all of the names.”

By now, most of the names are learned, but it’s still a job trying to piece together the various skill levels of each of the over 70 athletes running and throwing this spring.

Each team has quality veterans returning, but both must develop some of the younger talent for depth.

Fans get their first look at the two teams at this Friday’s home meet; events will start at 4:30.
