Florence Reierson, 91, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa after a long illness.

Florence was born December 29, 1922 to Donat and Angelina Laramee in Palmer, Massachusetts.  She grew up and attended school in Springfield, MA. 

During the war, she worked at an arms plant assembling guns and helped at the USO, where she met Lloyd Reierson, who would became her husband in 1945.  Florence and Lloyd farmed near Elgin, Iowa and would remain there until their retirement.  Florence took the CNA course and worked at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union for a short time. Besides being a farmer's wife, she was active in church and Ladies Auxiliary, where she served in many offices. Florence was a seamstress, an avid reader, and liked to go dancing.

Florence is survived by her two daughters, Diane Glawe of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Betty (Dennis) Dyrland of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Richard Reierson of Texas; a sister, Dorothy (Thomas) Ahearn of Ludlow, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Gwen Dyrland, Kirsten Bell, Richard (Rick) Reierson and Jeffrey Reierson and eight great-grandchildren, Charlotte Bell, Brittingham Bell, Isabella Reierson, Nathaniel Bell, Pierce Reierson, Katherine Reierson, Caroline Reierson and Knox Reierson and many nieces, nephews and a great-niece.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Larry (Helena) Laramee and a son-in-law, Randy Glawe.

Visitation was on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10:00 am until time of services at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Iowa

Memorial Services was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Iowa. The Rev. Marshall Hahn officiated.

Inurnment will follow at the Marion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service helped the family with the arrangements.     24u24
