Mary Kay (Theisen) Bohr, 75, of Asbury, was called home, Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, New Melleray. 

Memorials may be made to the Mary Kay Bohr Memorial Fund.

Mary Kay was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Holy Cross, the daughter of Lawrence M. and Cecilia E. (Pfeiler) Theisen. 

She married William R. Bohr on May 27, 1961 in Holy Cross.

Mary Kay graduated from Holy Cross schools and the Dubuque Beauty Academy. She was employed at Roshek’s Style Salon, and then owned and operated Mary Kay’s Beauty Shop. Her clients were some of her best friends. 

Mary Kay enjoyed playing cards and eating out, and had a love and passion for growing flowers and gardening. She had many talents, was a great cook and baker, and really loved people. Mary Kay was devoted to her family, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved and was greatly loved in return, and will be missed by family and many friends.   

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, Bill; her children, Jeff (Jacque) Bohr of Dubuque and their children, Jacob and Joey, Rob (Dana) Bohr of Dubuque and their children, Ries and Riley, and Tim (Kelly) Bohr of Eldridge, and their children, Mackenzie and Ruby; her brothers and sisters, John (Bill) Theisen of Holy Cross, James (Shirley) Theisen of Holy Cross, and Rita J. Theisen of Dubuque; her brothers and sisters in law, Cyril (Margaret) Bohr of Ossian, Theresa Moellers of West Union, Joan Hennis of Protivin, Ma Donna Rask of White Bear Lake, Minn.,  Jim (Jeannie) Bohr of Protivin, and Gene Novak of Protivin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Cecilia (Pfeiler) Theisen; her mother and father in law, William and Hildegarde Bohr; and her brothers and sisters in law, Dolores Riniker, Vernon Bohr, Rose Mary Gerleman, Gertrude Novak, and Jerome Bohr.
