Mary J. Fish, 92, of Fayette, died Monday, November 17, 2014, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2014, at Becker-Milnes Funeral home in Fayette with Rev. Andy Sayer officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette. Mary Jeanette, daughter of Oscar and Violet (Engle) Collett was born November 28, 1921 at Washington, Iowa. She received her education in the Red Brick Schoolhouse near Washington, Iowa. On August 20, 1940, she was united in marriage with Robert Fish at Washington, Iowa. She worked prior to her marriage at the Button Factory in Washington, Iowa. She worked as a housekeeper in the Fayette area for ten years, and then was employed as a housekeeper at Garbee Hall at Upper Iowa University. She loved baking, especially cookies.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Potter of Decorah, Roberta (Everett) Anderson of Plymouth, Iowa; one son-in-law, Henry Thompson of Randalia; nine grandchildren, Teresa Pfister, Brenda Plagman, Deanna Lopez, Jodi Potter, Brian Thompson, Mike (Kristy) Rohde, Christine (Jeff) Brandt, David Rohde, Jennifer (Mark) Stepan; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Weatherman of Washington; and one brother, John Collett of Washington.

 

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband in 1980; her daughter, Barbara Thompson in 2012; one grandson, Todd Thompson in 1984; and nine siblings.
