Dead bear discovered near Wadena

Throughout the past few years there have been sightings of bears reported throughout northeast Iowa. Saturday morning, the carcass of a 400-lb. bear was discovered in rural Wadena.

The carcass of a dead black bear was found on Saturday morning in rural Wadena. A Wadena resident discovered the bear and contacted the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, which sent a representative to inspect the bear before it was buried.

The bear was believed to have been dead for some time before it was discovered, and no cause of death has been reported. The bear was male and estimated to weigh approximately 400 pounds. No further details are available at this time.
