Wayne Allen Halverson “Fred”, 77 of West Union, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa with Rev. Ginny Olson officiating.

A public visitation was held from 4 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in West Union.

Wayne was born on February 19, 1938 in Fayette County, Iowa to Lloyd and Evelyn (Koester) Halverson.

He graduated from West Union High School in 1957.

Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army - National Guard.

He was united in marriage to Donna Hackley-Johnson on March 24, 1979 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Wayne farmed near Eldorado for many years. After selling the farm, he worked in construction and plumbing.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed listening to classic country music.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Donna of West Union; son, Allen Halverson of Waterloo, Iowa; five stepchildren, Bob (Kathy) Johnson of West Union, Mike (Kathy) Johnson of Castalia, Kim (Billy Clark) Johnson of Fayette, Rhonda (Tim) Chase of Cameron, Missouri and Dwayne (Julie) Moore of Fort Atkinson; brother Dennis (Betty) Halverson of West Union; stepdaughter-in-law, Denise Johnson of Alpha; 14 grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Karissa Butikofer, Emily Gamerdinger, Ashley Johnson, Carrie Johnson, Crystal Major, Brooke Berry, Jessica Johnson, Katie Johnson, Amanda Williams, Christopher Fels, Cory Fels and Jennifer Schroeder; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Derold, and two stepsons, Jeff Johnson and Dave Moore.

Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Home of West Union was in charge of the arrangements.     41u41
