Andrew Hageman

Andrew Frank Hageman, Andy, (43 years old) passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife, Christina Hageman, and brother, Kyle Hageman, by his side; Wednesday evening, October 19, 2016 after a 3.3 year battle with colon cancer. 

Visitation will take place from 4:00pm - 7:00pm Monday, October 24, 2016 at  St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 418 E Main St, Ossian, IA 52161. 

Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with a community luncheon after, in the school gymnasium, at the same address. 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Event will take place on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 6:00pm at the UAW Hall (838) 2615 Washington St, Waterloo, IA 50702. 

Team Andy Big Ass Party will take place at Spicoli's Rockade 3555 University Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701 on November 12, 2016 beginning at 6:00pm and continuing until close.

Andy was the 10th of 11th siblings, born and raised in Ossian, Iowa; the son of Arnold (deceased) and Lucy (Hemesath) Hageman, aged 84 years. He married later in life to Christina (Peverill) Hageman, on June 18, 2015, adding two loved step daughters, Eesa and Riley Jenks. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Hageman, and his sister, Jackie (Hageman) Mays. 

Andy was born January 16, 1973 in Decorah, Iowa; growing up on the family farm until the age of 8, when they moved into town (Ossian).  He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1991. He moved to Waterloo Iowa in 1994, working at Black Hawk Engineering until he was hired at John Deere, in Skilled Trades, in October 1996. Andy valued education and invested in improving his skills his entire life. He attended Hawkeye Community College and University of Northern Iowa, as well as a lifelong personal commitment to continuing education and improvement. His hobbies included smoking meats, golf and time spent with family and friends. 

As Andy and Christina Hageman faced the tough decisions and difficult times after his terminal diagnosis, they lived in gratitude for every day. Please don't be sorry Andy is gone. Be grateful he lived life on his own terms; and every day, say out loud in his honor: "I am so grateful that..."
