The South Winneshiek boys’ basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Class 2A District 4 Tournament last week, thanks to a 71-68 victory over Sumner-Fredericksburg.

In a game that was closely contested throughout, the Warriors emerged victorious and were able to advance into the postseason.

Led by an offensive explosion from junior Hunter Todd and sophomore Levi Lukes, both of whom scored 22 points, the Warriors had a total of four players score in double digits, including Cole Klimesh (13) and Nathan Ward (12).

On the boards, Klimesh led the way with 10 rebounds, while Ward and Todd each notched eight.

Todd’s impressive game continued as he also dished out eight assists and four steals.

With the win earlier in the week, the Warrior boys advanced to the semifinals to face No. 5-ranked Osage. The Green Devils, however, lived up to their impressive record and ranking as they came out on top of a 62-47 score to end the South Winn season.
