Ernest “Junior” Pfister, 91, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Tuesday afternoon, April 11, 2017 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

Funeral Service:  10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with Pastor Duane Olsen officiating.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa with military graveside honors by the Ross Reid American Legion Post #9 Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post 1725 both of Oelwein.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the Oelwein Health Care Center and Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.

Ernest Junior Pfister was born on Nov. 24, 1925 in rural Elgin, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Martha (Scheel) Pfister, Sr.  

He received his education in the Elgin Schools.  

Ernest served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in Europe.  

Ernest was united in marriage to Delores Marie Solomon on June 20, 1964 in Independence, Iowa. 

Ernest, known by many as Junior, worked at Bently Chevrolet in Fairbank, Fischer Auto Salvage north of Oelwein, Mulder Motors in Oelwein and operated a metal recycling business in Oelwein for many years. 

He enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing horse shoes.

Ernest is survived by his Wife: Delores of Oelwein; Son: Brian (Lori) Pfister of Hawkeye; 2 Grandchildren:  Justin and Ashton Pfister; 2 Sisters:  Peg Clark of Oelwein and Betty Bliss of Oelwein and Nieces & Nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers:  Glen and Louie and 3 sisters:  Frieda Nelson, Clara Mae “Susie” Poock and Augusta Earle.
