Evelyn Lorraine Marovets, 93, of McGregor, Iowa died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa. 

Evelyn was born July 24, 1923 to Alfred and Hilda (Torkelson) Kleppe in rural Ossian, Iowa. 

She attended country school.

Evelyn was united in marriage with Ben Marovets on Oct. 11, 1946 at First Lutheran Church, Ossian, Iowa. 

Ben and Evelyn farmed side by side until 1971, when they retired to a 40-acre farm a quarter mile from the home place. Evelyn loved the outdoors and milked cows by hand, grew garden vegetables to can and also raised chickens. She loved to bake homemade bread and cakes and always had cookies on hand for anyone who stopped by. Her pies were out of this world. She was a second mother to many nieces and nephews, who would stay at the farm in the summer. Her Norwegian humor will be remembered by all.

Evelyn is survived by her twins, a daughter, Karon (Richard) Bahls of Elkader, Iowa and a son, Keith (Pat) Marovets of Postville, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Joyce Marovets of Elkader, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Douglas (Jennifer) Bahls of Coal Valley, Ill., Michael Bahls of Edgewood, Iowa, Gregory (Jessica) Bahls of Manchester, Iowa, Dr. Brian (Alison) Marovets of Williamsburg, Iowa, Eric (Linda) Marovets of Des Moines, Iowa, Mitchell (Amanda) Marovets of Waukee, Iowa, Michelle (David) Moser of Elkader, Iowa, Angela Marovets of Monona, Iowa and Brenda (Christopher) Schaefers of Edgewood, Iowa; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Jack Marovets of Guttenberg, Iowa and George Mueller of West Union, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Fern Kleppe of Postville, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; son, Stanley in 2011; her three sisters, Helen Daniels, Margaret Larson and Vivian Mueller; and three brothers, Adrian Kleppe, Arnold Kleppe and Leslie Kleppe.

Funeral Services were at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Gary Hatcher as the Officiant.

Burial followed at Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa helped the family with the arrangements.      23u23
