If you’re a fan of funny one-liners and catchy tunes, you will not want to miss South Winneshiek High School’s fall musical, “Bye, Bye, Birdie,” this weekend!

The public can catch the hilarious musical, which is full of 1960s Elvis-style rock-and-roll music, at any or all of three showtimes.

“Bye, Bye, Birdie” will be presented under the direction of Connie Formanek at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night, as well as at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The musical follows famous singer Conrad Birdie, played by South Winneshiek senior Manning Kuboushek, as he is being drafted into the Army and has been given the opportunity to give one lucky lady a final kiss on national television before heading off.

Conrad’s songwriter pens the song “One Last Kiss” for Conrad’s final television appearance before heading off to war, in hopes that it will bring in enough money to get out of the music business and start his career as an English teacher.

Other lead roles include Sierra Breitsprecher as Kim MacAfee, Kaelan Boe as Albert Peterson, Danae Taylor as Rose Alvares, Abraham Schmitt as Hugo Peabody, Brandon Frana as Randolph MacAfee, Chloe Suckow as Mrs. Doris MacAfee, Lucas Feltz as Mr. Harry MacAfee, and Cassidy Frana as Ursula Merkle,

Ensemble parts for the production include roles played by Sami Bohr, Ashley Davis, Carson Brincks, Eric Franzen, Paxten DeVilbiss, Emma Houdek, Logan Humpal, Gabe Kipp, Karissa Kleve, Cassidy Young, JT Monroe, Ethan Timp, Trey Kriener, Kerrigan Upton, and Hunter Wagner.
