Robert “Bob” Cole, 78, of Oelwein, Iowa died Monday morning, October 5, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

A private family memorial service was held at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.

A Public Celebration of Life was held 2 – 5 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the Jamison-Schmitz funeral Home in Oelwein.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be required.  Those in attendance are encouraged to wear a mask at the funeral home.  We encourage relatives and friends not able to attend the service to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home web site, by mail, text or phone.  

Robert George Cole was born March 4, 1942 at Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Ralph Robert and Arlene Ruth (Kuhlman) Cole.  He graduated from Randalia High School.  On March 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Ursula Ann Roch at the Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein.  Bob farmed in the Fayette area for many years.  He attended Stanley Union Church and served as a director for the Iowa Soybean Association.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing in Minnesota, golf, Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and wintering in Texas.  Most of all, Bob enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years: Ursula Cole of Oelwein; 4 daughters: Christina Lockard of Waterloo; Carmalita (Ron) Hummel of Maynard; Carol (Clark) Lewis of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota and Michelle Cole (Bryan Norem) of Denver; 11 grandchildren: Leann, Justin, Jordan, Ryan, Nathan, Taryn, Aaron, Corbin, Cody, Matthew and Michaela; 6 great grandchildren: Eisley, Rigby, Sentry, Max, Madelynne and Jack; 2 brothers: Jerry (Kathy) Cole of Fayette and Rick (Connie) Cole of Fayette; sister: Mary Ann Campbell of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a niece: Amy Cole.
