It’s time to get ready to “splash into summer,” during the first annual West Union Chamber/Mainstreet Summerfest celebration!

On Saturday, June 5, community members (and visitors) are invited to enjoy a day full of summer fun.

From a 5k run/walk beginning at 9 a.m. (registration for the 5k will be held at 8:30 a.m. that morning, at City Hall) to a Bloody Mary bar, live music, kids' games, and Water Ball fights, this community event will offer something for everyone.

This first-annual summer event will also be including another one of West Union’s most popular, and delicious, events: West Union’s BREWBQ contest.  There will also be a “Wild Card” entry option for the best appetizer of the day.

By noon, the summer fun will be in full swing with kids games on the courthouse lawn, Community Water ball fights hosted by the West Union Fire Department, a NAPA Show and Shine Car show from 1 to 3 p.m. on Elm St., and live music by Casey Klein on the Plaza from noon to 3 p.m.

At 4 p.m., the community is invited to the first annual Summer Fest Parade, which will be held downtown.

Following the parade, the Chamber/Mainstreet will hold the community award ceremony honoring all Front Line Workers, and the 2021 Miss West Union will be crowned.

The Expressions dancers will “wow” the crowd with their unique performances at 3 p.m. on the Plaza, and the evening will kick-off with live music and dancing with a performance by Lonesome Road in the Elm and Vine Street Intersection from 7 to 11pm.
