Memorial service held in Ossian

A memorial service for Steven W. Stanbrough, 57, of Ossian was held Tuesday, June 11, at Living Hope Baptist Church in Ossian. Pastor Joseph Needham officiated.

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Auburn at a later date.

Steven died suddenly on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis.

Steven Wayne Stanbrough, son of Earl and Carolyn Stanbrough, was born Oct. 30, 1955, in Hampton.

As a young boy, he attended and was baptized at First Baptist Church in West Union.

After his graduation from North High School in West Union, Steven studied automobile mechanics at Area One Vocational Technical School (now NICC) in Calmar.

He was employed as a mechanic at John Falb Co. in West Union. Later he did farmhand work for Art Molokken and Dale Pape and worked for Steve Bushman. Steven was forced to retire due to his declining health.

Celebration of Life service for William Dale Conklin

 

Celebration of Life set

A family-directed Celebration of Life service for William Dale Conklin of West Union will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at United Methodist Church in Alpha.

Visitation time with the family will be held for one hour prior to the service.

Dale died Jan. 15, 2013, and his cremation was handled by the Cremation Society of Iowa.

A Celebration of Life for Helen E. Koester will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado.

Helen died Feb. 5, 2013, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

Lennie Rayford Stensland, 89, of West Union died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at First Lutheran Church, rural West Union. 

Burial will follow at the West Union Cemetery.

Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Home, West Union, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Cemetery or Maple Crest Manor.

Funeral Mass celebrated for Sr. Rose Catherine Kuehner

Sister Rose Catherine Kuehner, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, 99, formerly of St. Lucas, died Wednesday evening, May 15, 2013, at Villa St. Joseph, LaCrosse, Wis. 

She was in the 73rd year of her religious profession.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, May 21, in Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Rose Convent in LaCrosse, Wis. 

Burial was in the Catholic cemetery on Losey Boulevard in LaCrosse.

Sister Rose Catherine (Mary Ann Kuehner) was born to Nicholas and Katherine (Hackman) Kuehner on Dec. 18, 1913, on the family farm near St. Lucas.

Mary attended St. Luke's Catholic School. After graduation from the eighth grade, she took a six-week sewing course. She spent most of her time working as a hired girl for relatives and neighbors, as well as helping her parents at home.

Memorial service held June 9 at Traditions

Raymond C. Jespersen, 89, of West Union, formerly of Viborg, S.D., died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union. 

A memorial service was held Sunday, June 9, at Traditions Senior Living Center in West Union. The Rev. Dale Rausch officiated.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clermont assisted the family with arrangements. 

Raymond Christian Jespersen was born July 15, 1923, in Viborg, S.D., to Niels and Ludevikke (Buck) Jespersen. He graduated from Viborg High School with the Class of 1941.  

Raymond served in the United States Army during WWII, attaining the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged at Fort Dix in New Jersey. 

On June 8, 1946, Raymond was united in marriage with Ann Marie Kirkland at Watertown, N.Y. Six children were born to this union.

Services held for sister of Kate Ungerer

Marilyn Niemann, 76, of Fredericksburg died Tuesday June 4, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. 

Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch officiating. 

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg, with Jason Byrne, John Ficcadenti, Dave Ungerer, Darren Corson, Larry Kuecker and Ray Armbrecht as casket bearers. 

Arrangements were handled by Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.  

Marilyn Ann (Weidemann) Niemann was born May 30, 1937, in Sumner. She was the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Lempke) Weidemann. 

She received her education in Hawkeye, graduating from the Hawkeye High School in 1956. After high school she worked in Waterloo for Rath Packing Co.

Dianne Parker dies June 4

Dianne T. Parker, 53, of Cedar Rapids died of pneumonia Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Brent (Bridget) Parker of West Union.

Dedor services held Tuesday in Fredericksburg

Arthur H. Dedor, 98, of Fredericksburg died Thursday evening, June 6, 2013, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, with Pastor Ronnie Koch presiding. 

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. 

Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home, Fredericksburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Henry Dedor was born Oct. 10, 1914, in Tripoli to George and Mary  (Krueger) Dedor. 

At a young age, Arthur and his family moved to Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., where Arthur received his education in rural country schools. The family later moved back to Iowa to live in the Sumner area. 

Arthur met his future wife at Walther League, and on Dec. 26, 1939, he married Leona Gitch at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. To this union three daughters were born.
