Lee Schissel

Lee Schissel

 

Lee “Tony” Schissel, age 88, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, December 13, 2020, at home surrounded by his loved ones in Guttenberg, IA. 

Tony was born August 23, 1932 the son of Bertram and Henrietta (Riehle) Schissel in Fort Atkinson Iowa. Tony had met Lucy Bohr at a dance in Spillville IA in 1957.  He had married Lucy on June 18, 1959, which they had been married 61 years.

In 1952 Tony enlisted in the United States Army to Serve his country there he did so during the Korean War from 1952-1954 during this time he earned a Bronze Service Star. Upon his release from the Army he transferred to the Army Reserve to complete his 8 years under the Universal Military Training and Service Act.

Tony returned home to work at Rath Packing Plant in Waterloo, Iowa where he remained working for a total of 35 years until the company closed their doors.  He then farmed for several years until his retirement.

On Dec. 20, 2020, Joanne (Joannie) Clark was taken from us to receive her reward.

Joanne Marguerite (Spang) Clark, was born June 28, 1951 at Oelwein, Iowa to John and Marguerite Spang of Strawberry Point, Iowa. She attended Strawberry Point school system and graduated from Starmont High School in 1969 (“the fun class”.)

Following graduation Joannie moved to Cedar Rapids and enrolled in Fashion Merchandising at Kirkwood Community College. She later worked at Killlian’s Department Store and then for Square D Company.

Diane Shahan, 66 year old Woodward resident, passed from this life on December 11, 2020. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2020, at the First Assembly of God Church.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  The family ask that attendees wear something made by Diane or something purple.  Mask will be required at the service.

Diane Lynn (Keding) Shahan was born on August 24, 1954 in Waterloo, Iowa; she was the daughter of Meryle Martin and Verdine Marie (Lau) Keding. 

Diane attended school in Fayette, Iowa graduating in 1972. 

Diane was blessed with three wonderful children, Jamie, JaNice, and Brandon.  She married the love of her life Eugene Shahan on July 11, 1990, they made their home in Woodward.

Neil Schwake 81, of Fayette passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

A private family service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Church in Buck Creek, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the summer 2021.

Neil was born on May 10, 1939 in Dayton Township, Bremer County, Iowa to Gerhardt W. and Edna (Moeller) Schwake. After graduation from Sumner High School in 1957, Neil attended Iowa State University, earning a degree in Agronomy in 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1962 until 1968.

Helen Eleane Ruroden, 74, of Monona, Iowa died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Guttenberg Hospital in Guttenberg, Iowa.  She was born January 24, 1946 to Lewis and Laura (Schnuelle) Ihde in Castalia, Iowa. She was baptized February 13, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Helen graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1964.

Helen was united in marriage with Duane Ruroden on April 15, 1967. Two children were born to this union.  Helen was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered as a very kind person. Throughout the years, Helen worked at Wal-Mart and Prairie Industries in Prairie du Chien and at Monona Wire for over thirty years. She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Spud, doing word search, and having a diet Dr. Pepper and Cheese Puffs. Helen also loved to dance, listen to country music, enjoyed watching TV, especially Days of Our Lives, and going to the movies with Samantha.

Kenny W. Hecht, 81, of Fayette, Iowa and formerly of Oelwein, Iowa died Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

A Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Westgate, with Rev. Herbert C. Mueller officiating.

Friends gathered at the church for one hour before the service.

The Final Resting Place is at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Westgate.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, Iowa.

Jamie Lee Solheim, 50, of Randalia, Iowa died Monday, November 30, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Jamie was born September 23, 1970 to Donald and Kathryn (Heins) Solheim in Postville, Iowa. He graduated from North Fayette High School in 1989.

Throughout the years, Jamie worked as an Auto Body Man and Carpenter. He was the “Best Dry-Waller around”. Jamie enjoyed motor cross, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, camping, and TJs pizza. He was good-hearted and loved by all, especially by the nieces and nephews because he was always the “funny one”. He was a jokester and liked to give joke gifts at Christmas. Jamie enjoyed cooking, he always called his mom for recipes.  He will be greatly missed by his children, dad and mom, brothers, and sister, nieces and nephews, and all who knew him. We love you Jamie.
