The bride is the daughter of Luanne Butterfield of Waterloo and Martin Hansen of Davenport.

The groom is the son of Alan and Gail Hackman of West Union.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles “Chuck” Murray, of Fairbank, will be observing their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 24. Charles Richard Murray of Buffalo Center, and Carol Ann Haberkamp of Fairbank, were married at the Fairbank Methodist Church on Oct. 24, 1964, a day that saw three weddings take place in Fairbank.

Their family consists of Patrick and Emmanuelle Murray, Ben Newman and Victoria Murray of Goose Creek, S.C., Michael and Janelle Murray, Justin, Rebecca and Tyler of Buffalo Center, and Thomas Murray of Marion.

A card shower is being planned in their honor. Cards may be sent to Charles Murray, Maple Crest Manor, 100 Bolger Drive, Fayette, IA 52142. No gifts, please, but shared memories would be welcomed.

A private family open house will take place at Maple Crest Manor, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25.

Cynthia Gage of Elkader and Nicholas Torkelson of Monona exchanged wedding vows in a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 27. Officiated by Pastor Erika Kielstrup, the ceremony took place at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona.

Cynthia is the daughter of Stan and Ute Gage of Fayette. Nicholas is the son of Beverly Torkelson and the late David Torkelson.

Mike and Megan Standafer of Snead’s Ferry, N.C., are happy to announce the recent birth of their son, Luke Michael.

When he was born on Thursday, July 10, 2014, Luke weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19½ inches in length.

He is the couple’s first child.

Grandparents are Roberta and Allen Mittelsted of West Union, John and Nancy Standafer of Cedar Falls, and Melody Fay and John Carr of Manchester, N.H.

Mark and Nancy (Ungerer) Creery of Hawkeye were married Oct. 28, 1989, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

The couple have four children: Tanner, a senior at the University of Iowa; Zachary, a junior at the University of Northern Iowa; Madison, a freshman at the University of Iowa; and Emily, at home.

Ali Elizabeth Schmitt, daughter of Shaun and Kendra Schmitt of Calmar, was baptized by the Rev. Donald Hawes on Sunday, Sept. 21, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar.

Her godparents are Derek and Victoria Hinke and Heidi Schmitt.

A celebration in Ali’s honor was held at her home following Mass.

Weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 19.75 inches, Ali came into the world at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.

Big sister Eva Marie is 19 months old.

Grandparents are Kenneth and JoAnn Timp of Calmar and Ronald and Jane Schmitt of Fort Atkinson.

Great-grandparents are Dorothy Scholbrock of Festina, Beatrice Timp of Calmar, Marie Tieskoetter of Ossian, and Elmer and Dorothy Schmitt of Fort Atkinson.

Parents of the couple are Mike and Karla Snyder of West Union, Robert Keegan of Oelwein, and Patty and Tim Meaney of Oelwein.

The 2:30 p.m. outdoor ceremony was officiated by Pastor Phil Rownd and interim Pastor Jake Bishop at the home of the groom’s mother and stepfather in Oelwein.

Susan Maze and Landon Wenger were married on June 14, 2014.  The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Stanley Hayek at Riverside Bible Camp in Story City, Iowa.

 

The bride is the daughter of George and Julie Maze of Swea City, Iowa.  Grandparents are George and Carol Maze of Webster City, IA and Ruth Phillips of New Sharon, IA. Susan is a graduate of North Kossuth High School in Swea City, IA and Iowa State University.

 

The groom is the son of Brian and Barbara Wenger of Arlington, TN.  Grandparents are Marilyn Larson of Elgin, IA and Anna Wenger of Elgin, IA.  Landon is the graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Kanata, Ontario and Iowa State University.

 

Landon and Susan are currently living in Clermont, Iowa.  Susan is employed as a 1st grade teacher at Decorah Public Schools.  Landon is working at Holden Farms as the NE Iowa Nursery Supervisor.

Dennis and Iva (Feller) Bumgardner of Hawkeye will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 10.

They were married in 1964 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Fayette.

The couple’s family will host a celebration for them on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Hawkeye Community Hall in Hawkeye.

Dennis and Iva have two children, Dion (Amy) Bumgardner of Hawkeye and Dawn (Ken) Heitzman of Marion, as well as five grandchildren.
